NewPro EC SH is a sol-gel-based sphere technology with extreme water exclusion properties to produce superhydrophobic coatings.

 

 

What does the term hydrophobic mean?

Hydrophobic  is derived from ancient Greek and mean iliterally „water avoiding“. If a surface is extremely water-repellent,  it is also called superhydrophobia.

Description and Application

NewPro EC SH is a unique 1K superhydrophobic sol-gel system that when formulated in water can be applied on mineral substrates as concrete, pavement, wall and stucco to get the so-called Lotus Effect. This effect is exemplified by a nearly invisible coating that has extreme repellence to water and aqueous solutions. With the contact angle of 140° water droplets bounce back from the surface and will roll down immediately upon touch. As a result, the wall remains dry, clean and will behave as efficient barrier against water. It will not form a film and as a result the substrate stays breathable.

 

Application NewPro EC SH

  • Dilute EXOCOAT SH 1:4 or 1:5 with water
  • Spray, brush or roll the product on the substrate
  • A 2nd layer wet on wet generally improves the Lotus Effect
  • Let it dry at room temperature for a day
