NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is an environmentally friendly product which prevents and eliminates wetness and dampness on structures. Dampness, mould, salt-release, saltpetre and nitrate damage etc. can be avoided in old and new building structures.
Properties
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is an ecological mould protection. It is a water-dilutable viscous concentrate with an active hydrophobic organic-mineral substance for water repellent impregnation and surface hardening of mineral building materials and diffusible mineral paints.
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is limestone stable, i. e. mineral building materials can be effectively impregnated up to a pH-value of 12.
A good penetration depth can be achieved, also on a lightly damp subsurface. Optimal results are obtained with a dry subsurface.
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution forms hydrophobic properties. Furthermore conservation and alkaline stability is achieved. The intakes of water and of contaminants as well as the infestation with micro-organisms are permanently reduced, even when subject to heavy rains. Energy losses are reduced by the suppression of thermal conductivity. The high penetration depth, together with an excellent hydrophobic effect and at the same time providing an insubstantial influence on the water diffusion, effectively supports efforts to reach an equilibrium of the moisture contents of building components and also provides for rapid drying.
Water Resistance
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution penetrates deep into the masonry and forms a water repellent surface:
- A thermally isolating filler is formed by its natural base material.
- With its alkaline characteristics it acts as a neutraliser against acidification and mould formation (or reduces acidification and mould formation).
- In an aqueous solution the botanical base provides a strong alkaline effect.
- forms an extremely good bond to the mineral underground.
Ecologically Environment Friendly
During the processing of NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution no toxic vapours are released.
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution doesn’t trigger any allergic reactions. No forms of health interference for people, animals or plants occur.
Storage
Store frost free in a cool place covered by a layer of water (WHG §19). It is to be ensured that on storage a water layer if 1 to 2 cm permanently covers NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution.
Mixing Ratio
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is mixed with clean tap water at: 1 part NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution with 4 to 12 parts of water.
Consumption Values
This depends very much on the absorbency of the substrate (see consumption table). Please determine the exact values by carrying out a trial application.
Gloss Level
The gloss level is dependent on the mix ratio and is matt.
Application
Single to multiple treatment – most appropriate is flow coating procedure. It can also be spread richly or applied as a spray.
Recommended applicators: ZKF Flood device with various flooding heads.
Safeguard Measures / Object
Bordering non-alkaline building components should be protected (e.g. with NewPro Stripping Paint – temporary) pH value 11 (1. 5g/Z H²O – 283K / 10°C).
Safeguard Measures / Handling
Protection goggles and gloves should be worn – see also Safety Data Sheet
Drying Time / Stand Time
Hydrophobicly treated and impregnated surfaces are to be protected from rain until they have dried out. The normal drying time resp. the drying out of the structure is completed after about 14 days.
Cleaning of Equipment
Low pressure spray units, airless units, garden sprays, sheepskin rollers and paintbrushes should be cleaned with clean water within 1 hour.
Subsurface Preparation
The subsurface should be in a clean, dust-free, dry and absorbent condition. Fissures, crack joints and defective connections are to be repaired beforehand. It is necessary to ensure that water and the dissolved salts contained therein cannot get behind the hydrophobic zone as this can lead to frost damage, flaking and salt dispersion. Wet sub-surfaces lead to a low penetration and resp. to the forming of patches. A suitable cleaning procedure must remove attached protection and contamination crusts and efflorescence, algae and moss before each impregnation. Attention must be paid that the building substance is damaged as little as possible. Cleaner residues (e.g. tensides) have to be thoroughly washed off the subsurface. Bordering surfaces should be covered e.g. with NewPro Building Foil (Stripping Paint). The set-up of a trial area to check the absorbability of the subsurface is necessary. Walls with a water content of more than 50% are not impregnable. In this case drainage measures have priority.
Processing
NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is mixed only with clean tap water by means of a stirring device. The ready to use solution is then spread by flow coating or spraying of at least two coats “wet in wet” in a thick coat. The solution must penetrate the subsurface and must not be allowed to dry on the surface. Only as much solution should be mixed which can be used up within 2-3 hours. Should bordering building parts become soiled then these are to be washed off immediately with sufficient water.
Verification of the Effectiveness
The verification of the effectiveness of NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is carried out by Karstenishen Detection Tubes. The verification is carried out 14 days after the impregnation.

Information
Please observe the Safety Data Sheets.
Furthermore we refer to the WTA-Data Sheets “Cleaning and Natural Stone Hydrophobics”.
On using water soluble mineral paints 50 ml of NewPro-HydroProtection 3000 Impregnation Solution is mixed with 1 litre of paint.
For calculation and invitation to tender figures, the impregnation requirements are to be determined by using a suitably large trial area (1-2m²). The empirical values for various surfaces can be seen in the overview table.
