Information About Hazardous Materials
Hazardous materials according to § 3 of the Ordinance on Hazardous Materials are:
- Materials, mixtures and products which are explosive,
- Materials, mixtures and products, which produce or discharge hazardous materials during creation or usage,
- Materials and mixtures, which do not fulfill the classification requirements, but which according to their physical-chemical, chemical or toxic properties and the manner in which they are present or used at the workplace, might endanger the health and safety oft he employees,
- All materials, which have been assigned an occupational limit value.
Materials or mixtures which are classified as hazardous chemicals are labelled before being put on the market. Ordinance (EG) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) contains the pertinent regulation. Hazardous materials can be identified according to the following overview of hazard pictograms.
GHS-System
The GHS-System utilizes 9 GHS-Pictograms, also known as CLP-Pictograms, which are described in below table together with the GHS number and their meaning.
